Junior Past President role

The Junior Past President holds a voting seat on the Board of Officers and plays an important transitional and support role. Their primary focus is to provide continuity from the previous administration and assist the current leadership.

The Jr. Past President is an officer of condition… The condition is a successful completion of term as president.

Duties include:

  • Attend Lodge, Board of Officers, and Executive Session meetings, and memorize their part in the opening ceremony.
  • Assist with projects started during their term as President, helping ensure they are completed.
  • Preside at meetings in the absence of the President, Vice President, and Chaplain.
  • Serve as the Installing Officer for the incoming Lodge Officers.
  • If the Junior Past President declines or is unable to serve, the next most recent Past President by service will serve instead. The current President has the authority to remove the Junior Past President for missing meetings (under General Laws 35.10). For any other reason, removal must go through the Chief Compliance Officer.
